Ma l'EPA e l'amministrazione Obama sanno benissimo che il loro attacco contro il carbone è poco più di un gesto formale. Il resto del mondo continuerà a bruciare carbone, e in gran quantità. Ridurre l'uso del carbone negli Stati Uniti potrebbe forzare gli Americani a pagare prezzi più alti per l'elettricità, ma non avrà quasi nessun effetto sul cambiamento climatico.
But the EPA and the Obama
administration know their attack on coal is little more than a token
gesture. The rest of the world will continue to burn coal, and lots of
it. Reducing the use of coal in the U.S. may force Americans to pay
higher prices for electricity, but it will have nearly no effect on
climate change.
